Muscles of the body are 75% water so drinking water is perhaps the most important element in a healthy lifestyle.

Approximately two-thirds of our body weight is water, therefore it is important to keep yourself hydrated.

Even a relatively small reduction in the body’s water content can lead to a large drop in energy. For example, a loss of 5% of water content may result in up to a 30% drop in physical performance. This loss of physical performance is due to decreased muscle strength and endurance resulting in a hot and tired body.

Muscle health is of particular interest to Massage Therapists and their clients. Because liquid is vital to the flow of blood, which serves as a delivery system for oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, muscle health is highly dependent upon water.

The effectiveness of your treatment will be impacted by the hydration level within you muscle tissue.

*Some of the benefits of massage include:
*Stimulates the immune system by increasing blood flow and lymph drainage
*Improves circulation and relieves congestion in the tissues
*Stimulates the production of blood cells and promotes lymph flow which
hastens the elimination of cellular wastes
*Helps clear muscles of lactic and uric acid that build up during exercise
and relaxes muscle hypertonicity as well as relieves muscle tension
*Improves muscle tone and delaying muscle atrophy resulting from inactivity
*Seperates fascial fibres and prevents the formation of adhesions and helps
reduce inflammation and oedema in joints and soft tissue.
*Assists the body´s natural ability to heal itself
*Relaxes and tones the muscles preventing injuries, increases circulation
and therefore improves the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to all body
cells.

The degree of effectiveness of each one of the benefits listed above is determined by not only the skill of the Massage Therapist but also the hydration level of the client.

ADD “Stay Hydrated” to YOUR daily to-do list.

The Benefits of Massage.

You know it feels good to get a massage, and you're likely convinced massage is beneficial to your health.
But how much can it do for you really?
Reduce back pain, enhance immunity, improve joint health, ease migraines. And that's just the beginning.

What exactly are the benefits of receiving massage or bodywork treatments?
Useful for all of the conditions listed below and more, massage can:

  • Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion
  • Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
  • Ease medication dependence.
  • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body’s natural defense system.
  • Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
  • Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
  • Improve the condition of the body’s largest organ—the skin.
  • Increase joint flexibility.
  • Lessen depression and anxiety.
  • Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
  • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
  • Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.
  • Reduce spasms and cramping.
  • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
  • Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller.
  • Relieve migraine pain.

A Helping Hand.
There’s no denying the power of bodywork. Regardless of the adjectives we assign to it (pampering, rejuvenating, therapeutic) or the reasons we seek it out (a luxurious treat, stress relief, pain management), massage therapy can be a powerful ally in your healthcare regime.Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. While eliminating anxiety and pressure altogether in this fast-paced world may be idealistic, massage can, without a doubt, help manage stress. This translates into:
Decreased anxiety.
Enhanced sleep quality.
Greater energy.
Improved concentration.
Increased circulation.
Reduced fatigue. Furthermore, clients often report a sense of perspective and clarity after receiving a massage. The emotional balance bodywork provides can often be just as vital and valuable as the more tangible physical benefits.
