
Muscles of the body are 75% water so drinking water is perhaps the most important element in a healthy lifestyle.
Approximately two-thirds of our body weight is water, therefore it is important to keep yourself hydrated.
Even a relatively small reduction in the body’s water content can lead to a large drop in energy. For example, a loss of 5% of water content may result in up to a 30% drop in physical performance. This loss of physical performance is due to decreased muscle strength and endurance resulting in a hot and tired body.
Muscle health is of particular interest to Massage Therapists and their clients. Because liquid is vital to the flow of blood, which serves as a delivery system for oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, muscle health is highly dependent upon water.
The effectiveness of your treatment will be impacted by the hydration level within you muscle tissue.
